Something about eating seafood this far from the ocean seems a bit sketchy but this place somehow makes it OK. Marisco’s Puerto Peñasco came highly recomended to us so of course we had to check it out. Its right across from the train tracks in a run down little patch of Clovis. Do not fear! Brave through the ghetto and get inside- you will not be disappointed.
Fresh made salsa and ceviche tostadas await you. The menu has lots of Mexican staples like enchiladas and burritos but the specialty here is seafood. Fish this and shrimp that, the whole menu will make a seafood lover salivate. (sorry that image was kind of gross) I will say that I wasn’t a fan of the sauce on my fish tacos but that is something I can just ask them to skip next time. No biggie. I had taken some notes about the menu but, silly me, I lost them. I do remember that the prices were not terrible and I don’t believe anything broke the $15 mark!
The inside is pretty large. Two rooms with lots of places to sit. The wood floors and walls are very rustic. The Mexico themed decor is a given. Nothing was crazy and the inside is sure to be exactly what you would expect out of a place like this. From what I hear, this place is a hit with the Cannon people in the know and sure enough when we got there, there was a bunch of dudes in uniform.
Don’t pass this one up or let the neighborhood scare you and if you live in Portales, its worth the drive.
